Betting on Sports: Is it Right or Wrong?
By Igor Ivanov | March 6, 2008

If you’re any good at handicapping, then you’re good at making decisions. So you know better than to get trapped into making a binary choice about your moral stance on things.
There are times when betting on sports is perfectly all right, and times when it isn’t. In my worldview, the latter category includes anything that breaks the law – and why would you, anyway, when online gambling is here and yet to be effectively outlawed?
Other times when it’s not right to gamble include when you don’t have the disposable income to do so, when there are more fundamental things in your life that need your attention, and when you think you might have a gambling problem.
Otherwise, we’re living in an age where incomes and leisure time are on the rise for more and more people – as it should be. That’s what progress is supposed to be about, isn’t it? Roll the bones.
