The Right Way to Bet on Soccer
By bettingfool | September 26, 2007
Check out the soccer odds and you’ll see an explosion of leagues from all over the world – Europe, Japan, Mexico and points between. What’s a bettor who doesn’t know Beckham from Bocanegra to do?
Very simply, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Soccer isn’t the kind of sport where you can crunch the numbers without even watching the games. Goals are scarce, and the best team doesn’t always win. But it usually does.
You can still take something of a technical approach to betting soccer. Think of the mid-majors in college sports; where does that translate on the soccer spectrum? Try Japan. The J-League is quality soccer, but betting on that sport in Japan is limited to the very popular Japan Sports Advancement Lottery. That leaves a softer market for offshore betting, one that should be easier to take advantage of than the gambling-mad English and their outstanding Premiership.
