NFL Super Bowl Bets: Is this Eli’s Year?

The Eli Manning sponsorship machine is on the launching pad. After three full seasons of marginal success with the New York Giants, Manning has played the best football of his career in the playoffs. The best of his pro career, that is.

Manning’s coach at Ole Miss, David Cutcliffe, has been following the young quarterback’s progress and providing support for the 2003 Maxwell Award winner. Cutcliffe has this to say to ESPN about Manning’s performance in the Wild Card win over Tampa Bay: “It’s what I’d seen at Ole Miss,” Cutcliffe said. “To be honest with you, I hadn’t seen that a lot.”

It’s also what we saw in Week 17, when Manning threw four touchdown passes against the New England Patriots in a 38-35 loss. The conventional sports media has changed its tone about the rising star – he is no longer Peyton’s meeker brother, but a confident pillar of society. If only he could play defense, too.

Here we leave you with a video of  big brother Peyton interviewing Eli upon his entering the NFL. Enjoy.
